Earth: One Amazing Day, which we at BDH Creative worked on with BASE FX in Beijing, is currently available on the BBC iPlayer, and will be until around the 16th July 2018.

From the BDH website:

“Earth: One Amazing Day showcases the remarkable stories that happen on earth, our home, each and every day, driven by the power of the Sun. It takes audiences on a breath-taking and immersive voyage across the continents, through the oceans and skies as it tracks the sun’s journey…all in a single amazing day.”

We got individual credits so it got added to our IMDB page which is always 👌.

Data visualisation in virtual reality and 360°event at the Data Dome

At BDH we have been working with scientists at the University of Bristol to produce visualisations of 3D High resolution brain MRI scans which help show “the brain in action”. Some of the results of this work is to be shown as part of a free event at the We The Curious 3D Planetarium in Bristol on Monday 2nd July 2018.

The remarkable inner workings of our growing brain presented in Virtual Reality and 360° Dome. Secrets of Brain Health is a pioneering collaboration between University of Bristol and multi-award winning BDH Immersive to be presented in VR and Digital Dome. The project addresses challenges in neuroscience and how the complex neural networks are formed throughout the human lifespan.

Blue Planet 2 #BAFTA update

This time last week we were in London to see if we had won the BAFTA for Best Titles and Graphic Identity for our work on Blue Planet 2.

Although we didn’t come away with the main prize we did get to see the great and the good, hang out in a pub with hare heads on the wall, see our friends and colleagues win their awards, drink complementary champagne and generally have an excellent time.

Fingers crossed we get to do it again at some point in the future.

Project Ethel (27.05.14 – 07.01.16): Pages 1-8

Beginning a large project of uploading old notebook pages. These are not high res scans as that would considerably increase the amount of time needed, so these would have to do for now.

These are all generally going up on Instagram first.

Opening page of Notebook: Ethel. I’m going to be uploading notebooks in a more systematic fashion (with sensitive info deleted obvs). Notebook Ethel is a few years old. This is before I started using the first page spread as an index for the rest of the book. So the lists here are largely inspirational items and ideas of content capture. There’s not much order and I tend to fill empty spaces with bits of ephemera stuck in and doodles.

It’s along the lines of: “I’ve come to regard comics as something like a song. It can be about anything. We can address all sorts of things in a song, love gone wrong, truck driving, Daddies, smoking, boots, birthdays, cheating, space travel, big butts, revenge, war, a turkey in the straw, regret, genders, hands, purple haze . We can this way we can make comics about anything.” – Although I did write it down in a hurry!
